This program is located in a particularly poor rural zone where the children are extremely vulnerable. Malaria, diarrhoea and malnutrition are the principal causes of death.
The project aims at reducing mortality and morbidity of the children under 5.
The project in 2005 has the following goals: 800 undernourished children rehabilitated, 950 mothers training in nutrition and improved childcare.
The project also emphasizes improvement and diversification of the agricultural production of 170 families.
To carry out these objectives, the project collaborates with the government health services and strengthens the 15 ambulatory project clinics of nutrition which accommodate each week the children and train their mothers.
Follow-up of 300 vulnerable families with training by group is carried out in the villages. An agricultural follow-up also complements the program to insure food safety to the poorest families |
