The Association covers 7 villages in this area in the south of Mali, where until 1995 no school was available for children. The Government is willing to hire and pay teachers, as long as there is a school building.
The 3 classes bulit in 2003 (project 288) were meant to give space to overcrowded primary classes. But the government decided then to answer the villages' request for secondary education for their children, and sent three secondary school teachers. However, the primary school remained over filled!
The Association has now found financial resources to build a separate new building which is to be used by the secondary school. FdnF has agreed to pay for 3 new latrines and the furniture needed for the classrooms. The new classrooms will be in use by the beginning of the new school year, in October 2006. |
